Farid Matuk was born in Peru to a Syrian mother and Peruvian father; he has lived in the U.S. since the age of six. He is the author of This Isa Nice Neighborhood (Letter Machine, 2010), which was a finalist for the Norma Farber Prize, earned honorable mention in the Arab-American Book Award, and was chosen by Geoffrey G. O'Brien for inclusion in the Poetry Society of America's New American Poets series. New poems have appeared recently or are forthcoming in Third Coast, Mandorla, Black Warrior Review, and Critical Quarterly (UK). Matuk is a contributor to the volume Scubadivers and Chrysanthemums: Essays on the Poetry of Araki Yasusada (Shearsman, 2012).
